Gilles Bettmer (born March 31, 1989 in Esch an der Alzette ) is a Luxembourg soccer player.

Career

Beginnings

Bettmer turned to football when he was five. He played in Differdange , where he was licensed by AS Differdange . He was able to quickly achieve a regular place with good performances.

In August 2004 he signed a contract with the then Bundesliga club SC Freiburg and moved to the Freiburg football school . On October 18, 2004, Bettmer broke his fibula while exercising and had to sit out for four months. He was the captain of the U-19, which became German champions in 2007/08. For the 2008/09 season he rose to the second team of Freiburg.

During the winter break of the 2009/10 season, Bettmer moved to Eintracht Trier . After Eintracht's relegation from Regionalliga West, he returned to Luxembourg for FC Differdange 03 for the 2010/11 season. In 2011, 2012 and 2014 he became the Luxembourg Cup winner with the club .

National team

A year after his injury on October 19, 2005 Bettmer made his debut for the senior team . He came to a 20-minute deployment in the game against Canada . In May 2006 he took part in the U-17 European Championship in Luxembourg, where he played through all the games. However, the team was eliminated in the preliminary round.
