Gilles Gérard Meersseman

Gilles Gérard Meersseman OP (born April 19, 1903 in Torhout , † March 26, 1988 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a Belgian Roman Catholic theologian and church historian .

Life

In 1922 he became a Dominican (religious name Gilles-Marie ) of the Province of Flanders and in 1927 a priest. From 1936 to 1951 he was a member of the Historical Institute of the Dominicans in Rome. From 1951 to 1967 he taught as a full professor of church history at the theological faculty of the University of Friborg (1956-1958 dean ).
