Gillette is a city and the administrative seat of Campbell County in the US state of Wyoming .
geography
Gillette covers an area of 34.7 km² (13.4 mi²), of which 0.1 km² is water. The city is located between the Black Hills mountain ranges to the east and the Bighorn Mountains to the west. In Gillette there is a Loran-C transmitter on a 213 meter high mast.

Gillette is heavily influenced by coal mining. In 2017, around a quarter (5,538) of a total of 23,778 employees were employed in mining. There are a total of twelve coal mines at Gillette; Operators include Alpha Natural Resources, Arch Coal, Cloud Peak Energy and Peabody Energy . In addition to the mining operations, several companies specializing in mining machines and machine maintenance, such as L&H Industrial and Liebherr, have settled here.
