Giorgio Bombassei Frascani de Vettor

Giorgio Bombassei Frascani de Vettor (born June 29, 1910 in Florence , † June 9, 2000 in Brussels ) was an Italian diplomat .

He was the son of Margherita Tidone-Peri and Alfredo Bombassei Frascani de Vettor. In 1931 he received his doctorate in law from the University of Florence . On February 8, 1940, he married Eli Tramontani their son was Ranieri Bombassei Frascani de Vettor.

Career

In 1933 he joined the foreign service. From 1934 to 1935 he was employed in the Cairo Kingdom of Egypt . From 1936 to 1939 he was employed in Washington, DC . From 1940 until the declaration of war in 1941 he was employed in Moscow . From 1941 to 1944 he was second class legation secretary in Bern . From 1945 to 1946 and from 1951 to 1953 he was employed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italy) . From 1947 to 1950 he was employed in Rio de Janeiro. From 1953 to 1955 he was a member of the Italian delegation to the North Atlantic Council in Paris. In 1956 he was deputy head of the politics department.

From 1957 to 1961 he was permanent representative of the Italian government to the Council of Europe .

From 1961 to 1965 he was ambassador to Luxembourg .

From 1965 to 1967 he was ambassador to The Hague .

From 1967 to 1976 he was permanent representative of the Italian government to the European Commission in Brussels.

In 1976 he retired and became Vice Chairman of the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg .
