Augusto Assettati D'Amelia

Augusto Assettati D'Amelia (born May 6, 1903 in Rome , † 1977 ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

He was the son of Stefano Assettati d'Amelia. In 1925 he completed a law degree at the University of Rome as a Master of Laws . In 1927 he entered the foreign service and became secretary of the Italian delegation for the negotiation of consular agreements with Turkey. In March 1928 he was a delegate to the International Conference on Copyright. In May 1928 he was secretary of the Italian delegation to the 11th session of the Conference of the International Labor Organization . From 1928 to 1931 Vice-Consul in Yugoslavia. From 1932 to 1933 he was legation secretary in Bern (Switzerland). From 1933 to 1934 he was legation secretary in Paris . In 1935 he was secretary of the legation in Tirana . From 1939 to 1940 he was first class legation secretary in London . From 1940 to 1941 he was first-class delegation secretary in Moscow .

In 1944 he was chargé d'affaires in Lisbon . From 1946 to 1947 he was Chargé d'Affaires in Budapest . In 1948 he was Chargé d'affaires in Karachi , where he was envoy extraordinary and ministerial plénipotentiaire from September 1949 to 1950 . From 1950 to 1951 he was ambassador to Rangoon ( Burma ). From 1951 to May 2, 1952 he was ambassador to Prague . From 1955 to 1957 he was ambassador to Bogota . From February 13, 1958 to July 24, 1962 he was ambassador in Addis Ababa . From July 24, 1962 to January 4, 1967 he was ambassador to Pretoria . From 1967 to 1968 he was permanent representative of Italy to the Council of Europe .

On December 30, 1940, he married Vittoria Treodoli. They had a daughter and two sons.
