Gaetano Paternó di Manchi di Bilici (born November 9, 1879 in Catania , † August 5, 1949 Rome ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Gaetano Paternó di Manchi di Bilici was the son of Agata Paternò Castello and Michele Paternó di Manchi di Bilici. He married Emily Thropp on July 2, 1907 in Florence .

With a ministerial decree of September 16, 1913, he was sent to Cetinje as second-class legation secretary . With the ministerial decree of September 10, 1916, he was promoted to first-class legation secretary with effect from February 1, 1917.

From 1921 to 1924 he was envoy in Kabul .

Gaetano Paternó di Manchi di Bilici was envoy to Moscow from October 13, 1923 to February 2, 1924. Before the Treaty of Rapallo on April 16, 1922, the diplomacy of the two states was inconspicuous. As before, the Soviet Union had formed as a state, the transfer of his accreditation letter to fell Maxim Litvinov to recognize the Soviet government Alexei Rykov by Benito Mussolini .
