Giorgio Rossi (born April 1, 1948 in Rome ) is a former Italian track cyclist .

Giorgio Rossi was an amateur cyclist on the track in the 1970s , mainly in the short-term disciplines. Four times he finished third at the UCI track world championships , in 1973 and 1974 in the sprint and 1980 in the tandem race , together with Floriano Finamore . At the UCI track world championships in 1975 he was runner-up in the sprint, behind the French Daniel Morelon . In 1975 he won the prestigious sprint classic Grand Prix de Paris after finishing third in 1971; twice - in 1976 and 1979 - he finished second. That year he also won the track sprint at the Mediterranean Games in Algiers . In addition to the victory in Paris, he also won the Grand Prix of Milan (four times), Italy, Copenhagen , Poland and Turin .

Rossi started twice at the Olympic Games: in 1972 he was ninth in the tandem race with Dino Verzini , and in 1976 he was eighth in the sprint. Counting all age groups together, Rossi won 41 Italian championship titles in various disciplines of cycling.

Professional

After the end of his sporting career, he took up a job in forestry. on.
