Giorgos Kyriakakis
Giorgos Kyriakakis ( Greek Γιώργος Κυριακάκης , * 1967 in Rethymnon , Crete ) is a Greek composer .
education
Kyriakakis received his first music lessons on the island of Crete. He then studied composition and music analysis with Joseph Papadatos and Byzantine music with Lykourgos Angelopoulos at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens. He continued his studies in composition, media music, music from non-European cultures with Dimitri Terzakis , as well as in electro-acoustic composition with Prof. Eckhard Rödger at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig .
Teaching
Kyriakakis already had various teaching assignments for composition, composition, Byzantine and Greek music etc. a. at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens , at the Berklee College of Music and at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki until he was appointed private lecturer at the Institute of Musicology there in 2006.
Compositions
Kyriakakis has composed numerous works for theater and cinema, as well as for solo instruments, chamber music , choir and orchestra . His music has been performed in several countries and recorded on FM-records and ARKYS. His works are published by Edition Gravis.

Giorgos Kyriakakis worked as a producer on the Greek public broadcaster ERA2 ( Greek ΕΡΑ 2) between 2004 and 2009 . He is a member of the Association of Greek Composers (EEM) and the German Composers Association (DKV). He lives and works in Berlin .
