Giovanna Ralli

Giovanna Ralli (born January 2, 1935 in Rome ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Ralli was already in front of the camera at the age of seven: In Vittorio De Sicas I bambini ci guardano , she was one of the children who gave the title. As a teenager she played in the ensemble of Peppino De Filippo and at the age of sixteen she started her film career in Federico Fellini's Lights of the Variety Theater . Her artistic breakthrough came in 1959 with Roberto Rossellini's Il generale della rovere , where she was able to establish herself as a dramatic actress despite a smaller role, especially since Rossellini signed her again for a role.

In 1964 Ralli won the Italian film prize Nastro d'Argento for La fuga and was subsequently seen in a number of international productions. In the 1970s she made the transition to mother roles, which she played until 1981. After a ten-year absence, she returned to the screen in Verso sera and has since played increasingly on television.

In 1995 and 2003 she received the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic .
