Giovanni Antonio Fumiani
Giovanni Antonio Fumiano or Fumiani (first name and Gian Antonio ; * about 1645 in Venice , † 1710 ) was an Italian painter of the Baroque .
He was apprenticed to Domenico degli Ambrogi in Bologna , but can be traced back to Venice in 1668, where he painted a Madonna with saints in San Benedetto. In 1674 he created the Virgin Appearing to Pius V for San Lorenzo in Vicenza . A dramatically moving wall painting (in oil) was created for the Venetian Church of San Rocco in 1678. Christ Chases the Merchants from the Temple (1678). Fumiani also supplied cardboard boxes for the mosaics in San Marco . For San Pantalon in Venice he created a large ceiling painting on canvases measuring 25 by 50 m. It is one of the largest canvas paintings in the world and was executed by him from 1680 to 1704.
