Giovanni Battista Lenzi

Giovanni Battista Lenzi (born 1951 in Samone , Valsugana , † June 1, 2009 in the Atlantic Ocean ) was an Italian politician.

Lenzi sat in the 13th legislative period (2003-2008) for the Unione per il Trentino in the state parliament of Trentino and was thus also a member of the regional council of the Trentino-South Tyrol region . In the state elections in 2008, Lenzi was barely re-elected, after the formation of the state government, Lenzi moved up to the state parliament, as the state councilors are leaving the state parliament in Trentino.

Lenzi died on June 1, 2009 in the plane crash of Air France Flight 447 . He was on his way back from a friendship visit to Brazil with Luigi Zortea, Mayor of Canal San Bovo , and Rino Zandonai, Director of the Trentiner Heimatfernenverein Trentini nel mondo . The three of them had already left for their trip to Brazil on May 20th, where they had visited several development aid projects in the province of Trento. Among other things, the municipality of Piraquara , where the route Caminho trentino dos mananciais (Trentino Way of the Springs) was inaugurated. Then they took part in the 8th Trentino Festival in the Parque Municipal Trentino , Colonia Imperial Santa Maria do Novo Tirol da Boca da Serra . 59 families from Trentino settled there 132 years ago.
