Giovanni Cecchetti

Giovanni Cecchetti (* 1922 in Italy ; † December 5, 1998 in Los Angeles ) was an American author, Romanist and Italianist of Italian origin.

life and work

Cecchetti studied at the University of Florence . He went to the United States and from 1948 taught Italian at the University of California at Berkeley , then at Tulane University in New Orleans , at Stanford University and finally from 1969 as a professor of Italian at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA ).

In 1978 Cecchetti received the Medaglia d'oro al merito civile from the Italian government. A prize was named after him at UCLA.
