Hendrikus Alexander "Henk" Janssen (born June 17, 1890 in Arnhem ; † August 28, 1969 there ) was a Dutch tug of war and Olympic silver medalist.
At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp , Belgium , Janssen won the silver medal in the tug of war together with Wilhelmus Johannes Bekkers , Johannes Hengeveld , Sijtse Jansma , the brothers Antonius and Willem van Loon and the brother couple Marinus and Willem van Rekum . In the competition that took place on August 17 and 18, 1920, the eight-person team, whose average weight was 85 kilograms per person, entered the first competition against the Italian teamon; The Dutch won the duel 2-0 after 71 and 43.25 seconds respectively. The second competition against the United Kingdom was lost after 28.8 and 13.4 seconds with 0: 2, so that the team had no chance of winning the gold medal. The following contest for the silver medal against the Belgians at home was decided by the Dutch 2-0 in their favor after 63.4 and 123 seconds. Janssen and his team won the first medal in the Olympic history of the Netherlands .
Janssen belonged to the Arnhemer Krachtsportvereniging Achilles .
