Willem van Loon (born August 15, 1891 in Arnhem , † November 29, 1975 there ) was a Dutch tug of war and Olympic silver medalist.

Career

At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp , Belgium , van Loon won the silver medal in the tug of war together with Wilhelmus Johannes Bekkers , Johannes Hengeveld , Sijtse Jansma , Henk Janssen , his brother and team captain Antonius van Loon and the brother couple Marinus and Willem van Rekum . In the competition that took place on August 17 and 18, 1920, the eight-man team, whose average weight was 85 kilograms per person, competed against the Italian team in the first competition ; The Dutch won the duel 2-0 after 71 and 43.25 seconds respectively.
