Giovanni Girolamo Lomellini
Giovanni Girolamo Lomellini (* 1607 in Genoa , † April 4, 1659 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal. He was a maternal nephew of Cardinal Antonio Maria Sauli .
biography
He studied in Rome at the Collegio Romano and received his doctorate in 1633 at the University of Perugia in utroque iure .
From 1644 to 1647 he was governor of Rome.
Pope Innocent X appointed him cardinal and cardinal priest with the titular church of Sant'Onofrio al Gianicolo in the consistory of February 19, 1652 . From August 26th of the same year he was papal legate in Bologna for 6 years. In 1655 he took part in the conclave in which Pope Alexander VII was elected.
After his death on April 4, 1659, his body was buried in the Basilica of Santi Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso in Rome.
