The women's 1,500-meter run at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held on August 20 and 22, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

After the sovereign victories of Chinese endurance women over 3000 and 10,000 meters , there was also a clear Chinese success here in the middle distance . World champion was Liu Dong , who ran an impressive final lap with 60.15 seconds. She won before the Irishwoman Sonia O'Sullivan . Bronze went to the favored Algerian defending champion and 1992 Olympic champion Hassiba Boulmerka .
