Giovanni Giulio Gerolamo Berna
Giovanni Giulio Gerolamo Berna (born April 21, 1717 in Prato (Vallemaggia) , today Lavizzara municipality ; † March 3, 1804 in Locarno ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and library founder from the Swiss canton of Ticino .
In 1741 he was ordained a priest and then worked in Menzonio until he became archpriest at the Church of San Vittore in Locarno from 1773 . From funds his father in his will had intended he built from 1762 in Prato, a 900-volume library for the clergy in Val Lavizzara and made them available to the public in 1784.
