Giovanni Montani (* 1987 or 1988 ; † October 29, 2006 ) was an Italian soccer player and victim of a family feud.

Montani's uncle Andrea Montani was the head of the Calabrian Camorra organization Sacra Corona Unita . The organization was founded by Raffaele Cutolo in Naples in the late 1970s . Cutolo had successfully expanded its operations to Calabria and Apulia. After Cutolo was arrested and convicted, the Sacra Corona continued its operations under new leadership. When Giovanni Montani was murdered, his uncle Andrea Montani was head of the " family ". Andrea Montani was arrested in 1991 and sentenced to prison. He continued to lead the organization from the prison, while Angelo's father Antonio Montani had distanced himself from the organization.

Giovanni Montani went through the youth teams of AS Bari and was considered a hopeful talent. In June 2006 there was an incident in which his cousin Salvatore Montani was killed. Since he fled the crime scene and was not looking for revenge, he is said to have violated the " code of honor " of his uncle's clan. As a result, he was shot dead by two clan members in October. In January 2007 the two killers were caught. The incident attracted national media coverage, but it was also reported outside of Italy.
