Rudolf Hunziker

Rudolf Hunziker (born February 5, 1870 in Unterstrass near Zurich ; died May 27, 1946 in Zurich) was a Swiss literary and musicologist .

Rudolf Hunziker was the son of the educator and pastor Karl Otto Hunziker . His younger brother was the food scientist Otto Frederick Hunziker (1873-1959). After attending grammar school in Zurich, he studied at the University of Zurich from 1892 , where in 1894 he obtained the diploma for the higher teaching post in classical philology and history. He then studied music for three semesters in Berlin .

From 1897 to 1935 he taught as a professor of Latin, German and history at the Städtisches Gymnasium Winterthur (from 1919 Kantonsschule Winterthur). Since 1904 he was a member of the Winterthur Music College and in 1917 co-founded and then director and publisher of the yearbooks of the Winterthur Literary Association .

He published numerous works on the history of literature and music. His main work was the publication of the historical-critical edition of the works of Jeremias Gotthelf in collaboration with Hans Bloesch , which appeared in 24 volumes from 1911.

His extensive estate is kept in the Winterthur collection of the Winterthur libraries .
