The Gippsland Falcons Soccer Club was an Australian football club from Morwell , Australia . The club played in the National Soccer League from 1992 until it was dissolved in 2001 . The club was also known as the Morwell Falcons and Eastern Pride.

history

The club was founded in 1961 by Italian immigrants. The club, renamed in 1963 in Morwell Falcons, played the first few years in the La Trobe soccer league. In the 1970s, the club was accepted into the Victorian Premier League . In 1984 he won the Victorian Premier League for the first time. Five years later, the title won again, the Falcons went against West Adelaide SC , the winner of the South Australian State League , in two games for promotion to the National Soccer League . After two defeats, the promotion was missed for the time being. In 1992 the club was finally accepted into the National Soccer League. In the following years in the National Soccer League, the Falcons could not celebrate any major successes and won the Dockerty Cup in 1994, their only trophy. In the same year, the final round was just missed. In 1995 the Falcons were able to qualify for the playoffs for the first time, but were clearly defeated against South Melbourne FC . In 1996 the club was renamed the Gippsland Falcons. In the last five years of the club's history, the team lagged behind its possibilities and placed in the lower ranks. The association was officially dissolved in 2001.
