Girugamesh (also: Girugämesh , jap. ギ ル ガ メ ッ シ ュ , Girugamesshu from English Gilgamesh ) was a Japanese visual kei band from Chiba , which was founded in 2004 and disbanded in 2016.

Band history

2004

Girugamesh was founded in early 2004 by Cyrien (vocals), Hotaru (guitar), ShuU (bass, formerly Kagerou-Roadie) and Яyo (drums). Cyrien and Hotaru left Girugamesh that year. For them Satoshi (vocals, formerly Venom) and Nii (guitar) came into the group.

They gave their first concert on March 24th at Motoyawata Route 14. At the same time they released their first demo tape kosaki uta ~ kaijou kata enban ~ , which was limited to 100 pieces. After a few live performances, they released their first maxi-single Kaisen Sengen ~ Kikaku Kata Enban ~ . The single reached number 10 on the Oricon Indie Charts. At the end of 2004 her second maxi-single Kuukyo no Utsuwa ~ Kyosaku Kata Enban ~ was released .

2005

In February 2005, Girugamesh started their 2005 winter tour Fuyu no Yukidoke Tourou . In March the DVD Kindling Vol. 1 was released, on which Girugamesh can be seen alongside bands such as Phantasmagoria and Vidoll with live performances. On April 15th the bands Girugamesh and Marusa gave a concert together in the Takadanobaba Area. After this concert the bands released a coupling CD: Senyuu Kyoutou Uta . The CD contains one song from each of the two bands.

From May 29th to July 17th Girugamesh gave further concerts. The final concert took place in the sold out Meguro rock may kan. The single Fukai no Yami was released on September 14, 2005.

2007

From 2007, the group's singles and mini-albums will also be released on the German music label Gan-Shin. Girugamesh performed at the J-Rock Revolution concert in Los Angeles alongside groups like MUCC , D'espairsRay and Merry. Girugamesh had another concert appearance in Cologne at the J-Shock Festival. The mini album Reason of Crying was released in the summer and the album Girugamesh in December .

2008

At the beginning of 2008 Girugamesh gave as part of their European tour stupid tour '08 u. a. Concerts in Munich and Bochum . Girugamesh had another appearance at the metal festival in Wacken .

2009

At the end of 2008 and beginning of 2009 Girugamesh spent two months on “Crazy Tour 08-09” in Japan. Then they went on “Crazy Tour 09” through Europe and on the “Girugamesh Tour 2009 (Summer Evolution)”.

2014

In May 2014 the band toured Europe with the album Monster in Russia, Austria, Hungary, France, Poland, the United Kingdom, Finland and several times in Germany.

In Japan they celebrated their 10th anniversary with a tour and released the best of albums Live Best (title in Europe The Best ) and Core Best . In addition, the mini-album gravitation was released in September 2014 , which was also released in Europe.

2015

A Japan-wide one-man tour and concerts in Mexico followed in 2015.

2016

In January 2016, Girugamesh released the mini-album 鵺 -chimera- , toured Japan and announced a European tour.

On May 1st, 2016 the band announced that the European tour will be the last and that the tour finale girugamesh Oneman Tour 2016 "鵺 -period-" will be the last concert.
