Gisèle Lestrange

Gisèle Lestrange (born March 19, 1927 in Paris ; † December 9, 1991 ibid), actually Gisèle de l'Estrange , married Celan-Lestrange, was a French draftsman and graphic artist.

Gisèle Lestrange came from a noble family. She was a student at the Académie Julian from 1945 to 1949 and the Atelier Friedländer from 1954 to 1957. From 1964 she worked as a graphic designer for Lacourière-Frélaut in Paris. Among other works, she created illustrations for the books of well-known poets.

Since December 21, 1952 she was married to Paul Celan , from 1967 they lived in separate apartments. They had two children, Francois, who died immediately after giving birth in 1953, and Eric Celan, who was born in 1955.
