Gisbert von Romberg (diplomat)

Gisbert Freiherr von Romberg (born March 31, 1866 in Baden-Baden , † December 8, 1939 at Möhnersdorf Castle , Jauer district , Silesia ) was a German diplomat .

Life

Baron Romberg studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and became active in the Corps Borussia Bonn in 1886 . In 1889 he was called up as a trainee lawyer in the Foreign Service . From 1912 until his replacement in January 1919, he was the German envoy in Bern . He was then head of the Eastern Department in the Political Department of the Foreign Office . In 1931 he retired.

Romberg had on January 22, 1908 Morsbroich the Gabriele Bertha Agnes of Diergardt married (1878-1924). The couple had the daughter Imma Agnes Therese Margarethe von Romberg (1909–1941), the adopted son Gisbert Leonhard Friedrich Daniel von Klitzing Freiherr von Romberg (1911–1941) and the adopted daughter Vera Maria Bertha von Klitzing Freiin von Romberg (1913–1944) .
