Gisela Vollmer

Gisela Vollmer (born October 23, 1922 in Düsseldorf ; † March 4, 2005 there ) was a German historian and archivist .

Career

Gisela Vollmer studied history, German literature and geography in Freiburg , Vienna and Bonn and received her doctorate in 1948 on the development of cities in the Lower Rhine region. Afterwards she was an archive trainee for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and took part in the first scientific course at the archive school in Marburg, which had just been founded . After passing the archival state examination in 1950, she began her professional career at the Münster State Archives . In 1952 she moved to the main state archive in Düsseldorf , where she worked until retirement (1984), most recently as head of the ministerial archive.

From 1967 to 1984 she was the editor of the archival specialist and club journal Der Archivar .

Vollmer was heavily involved in the Düsseldorf History Association, which made her an honorary member in 1991 and awarded her the Lacomblet plaque in 1993. In 1982 she received the Federal Cross of Merit for her services to archives and history.

She was the daughter of Bernhard Vollmer , director of the Düsseldorf State Archives from 1929 to 1952 .
