Gisilia lerautella is a butterfly from the family of Chrysopeleiidae .

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 6 to 8 millimeters. The species differs from Gisilia stereodoxa by the shorter white apical section of the antennae and the wider white bands on the forewings . They are clearly bordered gray-brown.

The genital fittings of the males are similar to that of Gisilia stereodoxa . The dorsal lobe of the right valve, however, has a straight dorsal margin and the apex of the longer and wider ventral lobe is pointed. In the left valve, both the edges of the spatulate tip of the broader dorsal lobe and those of the straight ventral lobe are hairy. The aedeagus is curved and tapered.

The genital armature of the females differs from Gisilia stereodoxa by the needled genital plate, the lack of the zigzag-shaped inner band of the ductus bursae , the weak granulation of the corpus bursae and the more elongated signum.

distribution

Gisilia lerautella has so far only been found at the type locality in France ( Fontainebleau forest ). It is believed that the species was introduced.

biology

The biology of the species is unknown. So far only seven specimens are known, which were collected from the end of April to the beginning of May on oak trunks.
