Gitta Domik ( Brigitta Domik-Kienegger ; born November 18, 1957 in Graz , Austria) is a computer scientist and university lecturer . Since 1993 she has been head of the computer graphics, visualization and image processing department at the University of Paderborn . Domik is a senior member of IEEE and ACM .

Life

Domik studied at the Technical University of Graz (TU) the subject "Technical Mathematics with a focus on information processing" and graduated in 1981 with a " Dipl-Ing " degree . Subsequently (1982–1985) she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Digital Image Processing and Computer Graphics of the Forschungsgesellschaft Joanneum Graz (today Joanneum Research Forschungsgesellschaft mbH). She received her doctorate from Graz University of Technology in 1985 on the subject of analysis of digital radar images using digital elevation models and image simulation (supervisor Franz Leberl ). From 1986 to 1987 she worked at the start-up Vexcel Corporation in Boulder , Colorado , USA , in the position of scientist and project manager, mainly for research projects in collaboration with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of NASA . From 1987 to 1992 she worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy (CASA), in 1992 and until March 1993 as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, both at the University of Colorado at Boulder . Two visiting professorships fell during this period: the academic year 1990/91 at the Faculty of Computer Science at Graz University of Technology, and in 1992 four months at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna . Since 1993 she has been a professor at the University of Paderborn , where she heads the computer graphics, visualization and image processing department .
