Giulio Bas

Giulio Bas (born April 21, 1874 in Venice , † August 27, 1929 ) was an Italian composer and organist.

Bas studied with Giovanni Tebaldini and Marco Enrico Bossi and in Munich with Joseph Rheinberger . In 1901 he became organist at the Basilica di San Marco , later at the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. From 1912 he taught Gregorian singing at the Conservatory. His students included u. a. Eduardo Dagnino , Domenico De 'Paoli , Renzo Bracesco , Michelangelo Abbado , Luigi Picchi , Enea Ferrante and Giuseppe Biella .

Bas wrote several works on music theory and Gregorian chant. He composed some organ works and songs and published an oboe school.
