Giulio Brogi (born May 13, 1935 in Verona , † February 19, 2019 in Negrar ) was an Italian actor .

Life

After finishing school, Brogi attended the Accademia dei Filodrammatici and from 1956 devoted himself exclusively to his theater career for ten years, during which he performed on the stages of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano and the municipal stages in Genoa , Trieste and Turin with directors such as Giorgio Strehler and Luigi Squarzina , Aldo Trionfo and Pietro Carriglio worked together and, above all, interpreted classics.

In 1967 Brogi made his debut both on television (in Le baruffe chiozzotte ) and on the big screen (in Sovversivi by the Taviani brothers). By the mid-1970s he found a number of roles in both media, working repeatedly with the Tavianis, receiving one of his best roles in Franco Rossi's Eneide , and limiting his selection almost exclusively to artistically demanding works. His remarkable, intense way of speaking could also be heard in a few productions since then, but until 2013.

For his interpretation of “Giulio Manieri” in San Michele aveva un gallo , Brogi was nominated in 1976 for the Silver Ribbon as best leading actor.
