Giuseppe Bernardazzi

Giuseppe Bernardazzi junior (born August 13, 1816 in Pambio near Lugano , Ticino ; † January 15, 1891 ibid) was a Swiss architect and painter .

Life

After studying architecture in Milan , he went to Saint Petersburg , where he received orders for the Residenz and the Winter Palace , among other things . From 1845 to 1855 he took part in the fortification and security works of Sevastopol on the occasion of the Crimean War . How big his share was is controversial: Some people believe that he was responsible for the planning, and sometimes he is only referred to as the executive body. In 1859 he returned to Switzerland. There he worked as a teacher, architect and painter, among other things.

In the family archives of Bernardazzi documents and writings, plans and sketches, as well as a portrait of Giuseppe Bernardazzi are kept.
