Giuseppe Leiva Rodríguez (born September 14, 1995 ) is a Peruvian chess player .

Life

Giuseppe Leiva comes from Trujillo and studied at the Universidad Nacional there. He was trained in chess by his father and the FIDE master Carlos Pesantes. Leiva was later trained by Grand Master Georgui Castañeda .

successes

At the Pan-American U16 Championship in July 2011 in Cali , he finished third and received the title of FIDE Champion. In June 2012 he won the Peruvian individual championship in Piura , tied ahead of Deivy Vera Sigueñas . He qualified for the Peruvian Olympic team and took part in the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul . In July 2012, he finished third at the Pan-American U20 Championship in São Paulo and was named International Master for his score of 7 points from 9 games . At the 2012 Chess Olympiad he played on the third board and with his result of 6 points from 11 games had already met a standard for the title of International Master.

Its Elo rating is 2391 (as of May 2020), its highest to date was 2449 in June 2017.
