Giuseppe Tonucci

Giuseppe Tonucci (born March 9, 1938 in Fano ; † October 11, 1988 in Pesaro ) was an Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

His first major international success was victory on the 10th stage of the International Peace Drive in 1959 , which he finished 54th in the overall ranking. In 1960 the Italian Association nominated him for the Summer Olympics in Rome . There he was classified as 19th in the road race . The following year he became a professional driver in the Italian team Ignis . He achieved his first victory in the new profession. He drove the Giro d'Italia (where he was eliminated) and in which he was able to win a stage a year later. Then he started in the Tour de France and was 88th in the final classification. In 1963 he started for the Gazzola team , finished 86th in the Giro , but remained unsuccessful and ended his career.
