Giuseppe Vasi
Giuseppe Vasi (born August 27, 1710 in Corleone , Sicily , † April 16, 1782 in Rome ) was an Italian graphic artist and engraver .
Life
Vasi was a student of Sebastiano Conca , Pier Leone Ghezzi and Filippo Juvarra in Rome .
Between 1746 and 1761 Vasi published 10 volumes with 240 graphics of the Roman monuments. At this time the baroque phase of Rome was nearing its end, so that one can speak of an inventory here.
Giovanni Battista Piranesi was one of his students, but after a short time he fell out with him. While Piranesi delved into the ruins of ancient Rome, Vasis’s goal was a representation of the Rome of his time. Having trained as an architect himself, he was able to accurately represent the monuments of Rome in every detail.

The fascinating overview of Rome in the middle of the 18th century culminated in the 102.5 × 261.5 cm panorama of Rome from 1765 with the title: Prospetto d. alma città di Roma visto dal monte Ginicolo e sotto gli auspici della sac. Maestà catto. di Carlo III re delle Spagne…. incisione all'acquaforte. This shows the city of Rome seen from the Gianicolo.
