The smooth-stemmed mentcelia ( Mentzelia laevicaulis ) is a species of the genus Mentzelia in the nettle family (Loasaceae).

features

The smooth-stemmed mentcelia is a biennial or perennial plant that reaches heights of 30 to 150 centimeters. There are 2 to 3 (4) flowers on each stem . They open in the morning. The 5 petals are light yellow or white, lanceolate, pointed and have a length of 5 to 8 centimeters.

Flowering time is from June to October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

Occurrence

The smooth-stemmed mentcelia occurs in the western United States in dry, gravelly and stony locations.

use

The smooth-stemmed mentcelia is rarely used as an ornamental plant for outdoor succulent beds.
