Glen of Guinness is an Irish folk band from the canton of Valais (Switzerland). The band was founded on December 11, 1992. The name of the band was created within 5 minutes of the previous evening in a small bistro in Sierre . The source of the name was of course the Guinness beer consumed there . At the beginning of their career, the band mostly played unplugged in smaller bars. Soon afterwards, however, the appearances expanded to include larger events. In 1995 the band joined forces at the Paléo Festival with Pierre Genoud, who is still the manager of the band to this day.
style
The band plays traditional Irish folk . On the two albums Bastaki (1999) and Waiting for AM (2001) the band dared to venture into pop music . With the album Back and Side , the Valais returned to their Irish musical roots.
