Gleschendorf is a church village in Schleswig-Holstein with 1116 inhabitants (as of November 2018). It belongs to the community of Scharbeutz in the Ostholstein district and is located about 7 km from the Baltic Sea at an old crossing over the Schwartau .

history

Gleschendorf, whose name goes back to the Slavic name Golesko , was first mentioned in a document in 1259. Gleschendorf with the Gleschendorfer Church was for a long time the center and administrative seat of the surrounding villages and in 1850 had around 300 inhabitants. It only lost its influence with the increasing influence of Lübeck and the tourist importance of the Baltic Sea, combined with the economic rise of the seaside towns. On January 1, 1974, the community of Gleschendorf, to which the places Pönitz , Schulendorf, Steenrade (Ober- and Untersteenrade) and Wulfsdorf belonged, merged with the community of Haffkrug-Scharbeutz to form the community of Scharbeutz .

Economy and Transport

Scharbeutz identifies parts of Gleschendorf as an industrial area. This as the place itself is through the 5 km away Bundesautobahn 1 , the m 500 towards Bad Segeberg away B 432 , the Lübeck Airport (25 km) and the Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel airport (75 km) also connected to the transport network . The Gleschendorf stop was on the Kiel – Lübeck railway line and is now used by the RE83 and RB84 trains without stopping.
