Gloria Warren

Gloria Warren (actually Gloria Weiman ; born April 7, 1926 in Wilmington , Delaware ) is an American actress and singer . She gained fame in her short career mainly through the role of Vickie Scott in In the Shadow of the Heart .

Life

Gloria Warren was born as the only daughter of a jeweler and his wife under the name Gloria Weiman. Her parents were of Eastern European descent. After starting her film career, Gloria took on the stage name Warren , which her family then took over.

Gloria Warren began her career in 1942 with a seven-year contract with Warner Brothers . Her first film appearance was also her best-known: In In the Shadow of the Heart , she played one of the leading roles as Victoria "Vickie" Scott alongside Kay Francis and Walter Huston . In the film, she sings the title song Always in My Heart several times , which was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Song category in 1943 . Warren received positive reviews for her performance, including a detailed report in The New York Times . Still, she never made her big break as an actress.

Warren appeared in four other films over the next five years. These include Dangerous Money from the film series around the character of Charlie Chan and Bells of San Fernando , in which she embodied the female lead. In 1947, Warren ended her acting career at the age of 21 and retired into private life.

Gloria Warren married businessman Peter Gold in 1946. The marriage remained childless.
