The Goat River is a 55 km long left tributary of the Fraser River in the Canadian province of British Columbia .

The Goat River has its source in the north-central Cariboo Mountains , 4.5 km northeast of Isaac Lake . It initially flows 12 km north and then turns east for the following 15 km. Macleod Creek joins the Goat River from the left and North Star Creek from the right . This flows for the lower 28 km in a northeasterly direction through the mountains. The Milk River , the largest tributary, flows into the Goat River on the right. The British Columbia Highway 16 (Yellow Head Highway) crosses the Goat River 8 km above the mouth. The Canadian National Railway crosses the river just before it flows into the upper reaches of the Fraser River. The estuary is 35 km northwest of the village of McBride .

The river drains an area of ​​665 km². West Twin Provincial Park is located in the east of the catchment area .
