A South Korean-American remake was made in 1999 with 2001 Yonggary .

action

After Chinese nuclear tests, the newly married pilot Twang examines on behalf of his father-in-law Dr. Jo a series of earthquakes moving from the Li Lau Tung peninsula towards Seoul . It turns out that the earthquakes were caused by the prehistoric monster Yonggary, known in Korean legend. Yonggary is moving towards the South Korean capital, which is immediately evacuated. The tanks that attack the primeval creatures show no effect; Yonggary devastates Seoul. After Yonggary runs to a factory, they want to kill him with rockets. However, when it turns out that Yonggary feeds on oil, he is lured to a refinery outside of Seoul, initially in vain by opening the pipelines, then successfully with the help of a helicopter. Finally, the Air Force is deployed, pouring an ammonia-containing substance over Yonggary that is deadly for him .

Reviews

“Rubbish in design and subject matter; not a real representative of the 'Godzilla' series. "

“There is no question that the beast is put out of action: you give it a highly concentrated coolant, pack it in a spaceship and shoot it into space. However, it would not have been a bad idea to do the same with the two scriptwriters "
