The Goethe pond is a small artificial pond in Darmstadt , Hesse.
geography
The Goetheteich is located on the eastern edge of Darmstadt , between Darmstadt-Ost and Mühltal , at the foot of the Herrgottsberg .
The pond is approx. 60 m long and approx. 40 m wide. The Herrgottsbergbach flows through the Goethe pond .
fauna
Various animal species live on the area; including ducks , bats , gray wagtails , hawks , kites , pond newts , honey buzzards and wild geese . Numerous native fish species animate the pond.

The Goethe pond is located in the middle of a mixed forest . The natural monument "Delpbuche" is located in the immediate vicinity of the pond.
History and etymology
The Goetheteich was created in the 1970s - on the initiative of the then Lord Mayor of Darmstadt Heinz Winfried Sabais . The pond was named after the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe .
Varia
A circular path on the bank opens up the water. The Goetheteich is one of the stops on the “ Forest Art Path ”. Works of art were and will be presented in the pond and on the northwest bank.
