The LG Group is a conglomerate from South Korea with headquarters in Seoul . In Germany and Austria, the subsidiary LG Electronics is best known.
history
The Korean company, which is now one of the world's leading electronics groups , was founded in 1947 by In-hwoi Koo (alias Yonam ) as "Lucky Chemical Industrial Co.". The company's first product was a cosmetic , Lucky Cream. When In-hwoi Koo wanted to produce an inexpensive packaging attachment for his creams, he quickly began producing plastic. Combs, soap cups, toothbrushes and tableware followed later. In 1958 "GoldStar Inc." was founded, which a year later produced the first Korean radio . The brand name known today is an abbreviation of the company name "Lucky GoldStar", or LG for short.
In 2005 the LG Group split into the new "LG Group", the " GS Group " and the " LS Group ". In order to strengthen the “LG” brand name, a new logo and the advertising slogan Life's Good were developed, in which the letters “LG” appear in stylized form.
In January 2009, the LG Group managed to buy the Internet domain LG.com. Since then, it has been on the VB.com Internet Hall of Fame as one of the few global companies to own a two-letter domain. The domain originally belonged to the architecture group Lockwood Greene and most recently to the British soccer player Andy Booth and came to the new owner in 2009 through one of the most expensive domain transactions in history.
In May 2018, Koo Bon-moo , who led the LG Group in the third generation for many years, died. His adopted son, Koo Gwang-mo (he adopted his younger brother's eldest son because his only son was killed in a car accident when he was younger) is moving up. Koo Gwang-mo is only in his early 40s.
