Golli Marboe

Ernst Leo "Golli" Marboe (born August 4, 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist, lecturer at universities and speaker on media issues. He also worked as a TV and film producer for twenty-five years.

Life

Golli Marboe was born the son of ORF director Ernst Wolfram Marboe and his wife Maria. His grandfather is the writer and formative director of the federal theater administration Ernst Marboe , his uncle the lawyer and Viennese City Councilor for Culture (1996-2001) Peter Marboe . He is married to Sabine and has four children (Valentina 1986, Tobias 1989, Clara 1998, Sebastian 2001). For Golli Marboe, the school days in the Schottengymnasium were formative .

After graduating from high school in 1984, he studied theater studies and political science at the University of Vienna.

From 1984 to 1992 Golli Marboe worked as assistant director and production manager for around 25 films and series, including productions by Michael Kehlmann, Peter Weck and Fritz Eckhardt, and for international films such as “Der Fall Franza” (Xaver Schwarzenberger, Armin Müller Stahl), "From Time to Time" (Michel Piccoli, Jeremy Irons), "Shining Through" (Michael Douglas, Melanie Griffith), "The Train" (Ben Kingsley), "The Living Daylights" (James Bond) ...

In 1992 he founded the production company "Sternstunden", which produced hundreds of TV programs and in 1999 had to file for bankruptcy. The first Austrian private TV minute from W1 was broadcast from the Sternstunden studio. The comedy series “Die kranken Schwestern” (with Florian Scheuba, Viktor Gernot, Werner Sobotka, Uli Bree, Rupert Henning) developed by Sternstunden was awarded the Romy award for the most innovative project of 1997.

From 1999 to 2011 Marboe was a producer at the Munich company Tellux, where he created around 200 films and just as many magazine programs. Among other things, he was responsible for the development and production of the 2011 Grimme Prize children's series "Scavenger Hunt in the Holy Land".

Since 2003 he has been a lecturer at the Danube University in Krems .

From 2007/2008 to 2011 he was managing director at Tellux-Film Stuttgart, IFAGE Wiesbaden and Merkur TV.

In 2011 he founded makido film , which however had to file for bankruptcy in 2015. She produced u. a. for the ORF formats Universum, Newton, Orientation and also for the ZDF , Arte , 3sat, RAI, various ARD stations (BR, WDR, HR, MDR, RBB, ..), SRF, or   KIKA .

Since 2015 he has been a freelance journalist and consultant a. a. active for the furrow or the ORF.

In 2016 Golli Marboe founded the association VsUM, the association for the promotion of self-determined use of the media, and acts as chairman. VsUM has set itself the goal of strengthening media awareness in our society in terms of basic democratic values. In addition, the association organizes symposia, various lectures or initiates educational films, which are then distributed in Germany by educational institutions such as the BMB, the Austrian Ministry of Education or with Matthias Film and produced by the Viennese production company Inspiris Film.

He also teaches "Journalism in Moving Images" or "Storytelling" at educational institutions such as the WKW University of Applied Sciences or the KMA (Catholic Media Academy). He works as a lecturer for school principals at various universities of education, such as the KPH or the PH NÖ. There he speaks about media education and the main topic: "Media-Education-Democracy".

Marboe acts as a speaker for the Vienna University of Economics and Business or at the EU's Western Balkans media conference as a media expert with a focus on the “nature and future of public broadcasting”. On the occasion of the National Council election in Austria in 2017, Golli Marboe founded the initiative for the “Dirndl coalition” - with the aim of preventing the FPÖ from participating in the next government and supporting the idea of ​​a “black-green-pink” coalition. Golli Marboe has been a member of the Kardinal-König-Stiftung since summer 2018.
