Gordon D. Goldstein

Gordon David Goldstein (born April 7, 1917 in Rochester , New York , † May 14, 1989 in Washington, DC ) was an American computer scientist.

Life

Goldstein studied electrical engineering at Clarkson College of Technology with a bachelor's degree. From 1941 he was a civilian inspector for radio communication and navigation equipment with the US Signal Corps. He was then a development engineer at the Washington Institute of Technology and in 1950 he became a senior computer engineer at the Census Bureau in Philadelphia. In 1951 he joined the US Navy, where he worked as an electronics in the Naval Ordnance Laboratory worked in the Taylor model Basin's Applied Mathematical Laboratory and ultimately the Office of Naval Research (ONR), where he participated in the establishment of early computers like the UNIVAC I participated was. He stayed at ONR until he retired in 1980. Most recently, he lived in Silver Spring , Maryland .

In 1989 he received the Computer Pioneer Award .
