Gordon Alexander Jump (born April 1, 1932 in Dayton , Ohio , USA , † September 22, 2003 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was an American actor .

biography

Gordon Alexander Jump attended Centerville High School and graduated from Otterbein University in 1955 and from Kansas State University in 1957 . He then began working for radio and television in New York City and Topeka, Kansas. In 1959 he presented the weather on WIBW-TV and played in the children's program Wib the Clown . He then moved to Los Angeles to start his acting career. He made his debut in 1964 in an episode of the television series Daniel Boone and then played minor roles in several television series and television films. For household appliance manufacturer Maytag Corporation , Jump replaced Jesse White in 1989 as a lonely customer service technician who had nothing to do because Maytag's products were simply unbreakable. He embodied the advertising character until 2003.

Jump died on September 22, 2003 of pulmonary fibrosis .
