Gorom-Gorom is both a commune (commune urbaine) and a department encompassing the same area in the north of the West African state of Burkina Faso . It is located in the Sahel region and is the capital of the Oudalan Province . The area has 104,587 inhabitants in 81 villages and the five sectors of the main town. The city is known for its colorful market, which is a meeting point for many Tuareg , Bella , Fulbe and Songhai in the region and is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Burkina Faso (every Thursday).
Gorom-Gorom has an airfield (international identifier XGG) and is connected to Dori and Markoye by paved roads . Slopes connect the town with Oursi and Tin-Akoff .
The landscape is characterized by old dunes and plains. The acacia savannahs are characterized by livestock farming, while agriculture takes place mainly on the dunes.
