Gorom ( Indonesian Pulau Gorom , also Gorong, Goram ) is one of the Indonesian Gorom Islands that belong to the Moluccas .

geography

Gorom is the largest of the Gorom Islands and is located in the east of the archipelago. To the west are the neighboring islands of Panjang and Manawoka , to the south the Watubela Islands and to the northwest Seram and a couple of small islands in front of it.

On Gorom are the places Miran ( Miren ) on the east coast, Ondor ( Ondur ) in the north-west and Hur in the south-west.

As part of the sub-district ( Kecamatan ) Pulau Gorom, Gorom belongs to the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Ostseram ( Seram Bagian Timur ) of the Maluku province .

population

The Austronesian language Geser-Gorom is traditionally spoken on Gorom , which is also spoken on the southeastern tip of Seram and the small islands between Seram and the Gorom Islands.
