Gottfried Borninck
Gottfried Borninck , Latinized according to his origins, Gotfridus de Nym (* around 1373 in Nieheim ; † May 8, 1453 in Hildesheim ), was a north German cleric and a leading figure in the devotional movement Devotio moderna , which allowed a mystical relationship with Christ with an ascetic and humble lifestyle wanted to connect. He was a confidante of the monastery reformer of the Windesheim congregation Johannes Busch and the driving force behind the founding of the Herford and Hildesheim branch of the Brothers of Common Life . From about 1416 to 1426 he lived in the Herford convent, later in the Hildesheim foundation. The Hildesheim brothers and sisters Bernhard von Büderich and Peter Dieburg describe him in their chronicle works as the leading figure of the movement through his devotional work in book production, his visionary view of Christ and his charismatic pastoral work.
