Gottfried Lanz

Gottfried Lanz (born February 20, 1859 in Rohrbach , † February 18, 1950 in Muralto , reformed , legal domicile in Rohrbach) was a Swiss entrepreneur and politician (BGB) .

Life

Gottfried Lanz was born on February 20, 1859 in Rohrbach as the son of the sawmill owner Johann Lanz and Anna Barbara, born Heiniger. Lanz first completed an apprenticeship in his father's sawmill, then went on a hike through western Switzerland before taking over his father's business after his father's death.

From 1890 he modernized the plant and began as a Swiss pioneer with industrial veneer manufacture in 1911 . Under his management, with the participation of his son Hans (* 1890, † 1951), the company rose to become the largest Swiss specialty factory for veneers, blockboard and panels for the furniture and construction joinery .

In 1881, Gottfried Lanz married Marie, who was born in Laufen , and was the daughter of Friedrich Ruprecht. He died on February 18, 1950, two days before the age of 91 in Muralto.

Political offices

Gottfried Lanz began his political career in 1896 in the Rohrbach municipal council , of which he was a member until 1906. Subsequently, between 1906 and 1930 he represented the farmers, trade and citizens' party in the Bern Grand Council .
