Focus of his work

Everyday school life

In order to be realistically informed about the minds of the students, Schröter explored the whole everyday life of the student and in it the role of the school. The information from 1700 affected persons (students), a total of 19,000 responses, were processed. The results appeared in 1962 in the book Der Schüleralltag - viewed critically . It supplemented the dissertation The elementary school child in the massing process of the present (1953, PhD supervisor Heinrich Weinstock ).

Beginning teacher problems

Since Schröter observed a general deficit of the students in the task of putting the school-related, but initially only theoretical knowledge into practice as an intern during their studies or after the exam as a young teacher, he researched the young teacher's problems for beginners and discussed them in seminars.

Group lessons

The dominance of frontal teaching should be combated. For this purpose, the focus and aim of the work was to “prepare the way” for group lessons at as many regular schools as possible.
