Gottfried Zawichowski

Gottfried Zawichowski (born February 8, 1960 in Tulln on the Danube ) is the managing director of the Lower Austria Music Factory , coordinator of the Lower Austrian Choir scene and freelance production manager and choir director. He also works as a research assistant at the Department of Art and Cultural Studies at Danube University Krems (Center for Contemporary Music). The focus of his activities in the institutions mentioned is the service of contemporary music and choral music in close cooperation with institutions of the Province of Lower Austria.

Gottfried Zawichowski began his musical training in his youth at the municipal music school in Tulln with lessons in piano and violin. After graduating from Realgymnasium Tulln , he first completed the "Sound Engineering" course at the Institute for Electroacoustics at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , before completing studies in business education at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Education and music education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

In the course of this, Zawichowski spent 1987 studying at the Stockholm University of Music , where he made contacts with the Scandinavian choral music scene, which would have a lasting impact on his artistic and professional activities. Professional activities

Gottfried Zawichowski gained his first professional experience as a secondary school teacher and as an employee of Jeunesse - Musical Youth Austria and as a freelance employee of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation , for which he has so far worked as a unit manager for music productions, as a program designer for Radio Lower Austria and as an editor of the children's program “Musikwerkstatt “Was active. Since 1989 he has been involved in the organization and conception of various music courses and festivals such as the "Niederösterreichische Jazzakademie" he founded, the Lower Austrian folk music festival "Listen up" or the chamber music course "Musikfabrik Edelhof".

Artistic activity

Gottfried Zawichowski has appeared artistically since 1983 as director of the a cappella choir Tulln and since 2004 also as coordinator of the “Lower Austria Choir Scene” in the Austrian music scene. He is also active as a juror in numerous competitions, as a freelance conductor, producer and unit manager in the music scene.
