Słabowo [ swaˈbɔvɔ ] ( German Slabowen , 1928 to 1945 Langenwiese ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural community of Ryn (Rhine) in the Giżycki powiat ( Lötzen district ).

Słabowo is located in the eastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 24 kilometers southwest of the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) and six kilometers west of the city of Ryn (Rhine) .
history
The village, called Stabowen after 1777 , then Slabowen until 1928 , was incorporated into the newly established district of Gneist ( Knis in Polish ) in 1874. It existed until 1945 and was part of the circle Lötzen in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905 to 1945: Administrative district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
Between 1874 and 1912 Slabowen was assigned to the registry office in Gneist , then until 1945 to the registry office Rhine (Ryn).
274 residents were registered in Slabowen in 1910. Their number decreased to 255 by 1933 and was still 260 in 1939.
On the basis of the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Slabowen belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Slabowen, 220 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not receive any votes. On June 12, 1928, Slabowen was renamed "Langenwiese".
As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name “Słabowo”. Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish sołectwo ) within the urban and rural community Ryn (Rhine) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
